Finn Has Reportedly Agreed to Play for Excel Esports

Finn “Finn” Wiestål, former Rogue and Counter Logic Gaming top laner, has reportedly agreed with Excel Esports, as per the Upcomer. While this isn’t the most exciting news imaginable, it is nonetheless a good move on Finn’s part.

His decision to relocate to North America and compete in the LCS made a lot of sense. He needed a change of scenery, although, in all fairness, competing for Counter Logic Gaming isn’t exactly the best of career choices. In Finn’s defense, he was going to compete alongside many seasoned veterans, including Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen, Eugene “Pobelter” Park, Jason “WildTurtle” Tran, and Andy “Smoothie” Ta.

As far as lineups go, that was a fairly good one. It wasn’t going to challenge the LCS throne, but it had more than enough “firepower” and veterancy to leave a mark. Sadly, it just wasn’t meant to be — everything that could go wrong for CLG eventually did.

At first, it was funny, then it got a bit sad, and by the end of it all, you couldn’t help but feel for the players and what they were going through. An absolute debacle is what it was.

The Kled Master Returns

Excel Esports was about as good as Finn could’ve hoped for. His stock was never insanely high, to begin with, and it took a hit after his stint with Counter Logic Gaming. Playing for Excel Esports will allow Finn to get back into the swing of things at a slow, leisurely pace as there are never any high expectations for this particular organization — the only one in the LEC that has never reached the playoffs.

It’s not the most premier destination for a player, but that could very well change going forward. Finn will have some fairly capable teammates fighting alongside him, which is why we’re looking forward to seeing what he’s capable of after a very traumatic season in North America.
